confusion

I have been really busy. In fact, I am still really busy. And tired. I have forgotten what it feels like to be deprived of sleep. I almost put the milk away on the cereal shelf this morning.

This will all be over by Thursday, though the big push is today, to paint my set and dress it fully. It is coming together nicely, and I'm thankful to have a career that involves creating imaginary worlds. All day long. It's like playing with a dollhouse with your friends, but all grown up.

I am not sure what to do about these socks. I loved the first one, but I am really disappointed with the color repeats on the second one. I am tempted to rip it out to the first green and gray repeat (right after the heel), cut the yarn to prevent the second green repeat, and do it over. I could have prevented this by reskeining 1/2 of the yarn, so I could knit the same direction (and not from either end), thus preventing mirrored repeats. What do you all think? Christopher says that I have a lot of projects that I want to start (how does he know??) and that I should just finish the socks and move on. I'm less sure.

The part that will be seen the most is from the ankle and up a few inches. The rest is hidden in shoes and jeans.

Are they for Chris?

I like the second sock! I didn't realize the colors were mirrored until you said something. And I think the color progression is nice. I say that unless it will drive you crazy you finish it and move on.

you're so close.. just finish them.
my noro socks have some undesirable repeats too.

I like them both too!
I think it depends on whether the person who will wear them will find it objectionable to have socks that aren't exactly alike at the ankles. Personally I think it's fun.

finish them...the beauty of noro is in the color.

Hi Eliza,
and thanks for your comments on my blog. I'm usually not a big fan of noro-yarn (ie. selfstriping, isn't it), but this I liked. It looks like real stripes and the colors are beautiful. You should follow your husband's advice; finish the socks - they look great - and move on to something new!

I wouldn't rip - I love them!

I really like them too! However, these are YOUR socks and the beauty of knitting is that you can do whatever you want with it!

I think very few people see the upper parts of socks unless you are planning to wear them as knee socks. Bind off those suckers, wear them and move on! :)
